Care & Information

Materials

TiKa* de La Botte creations are primarily made from sterling silver and brass.

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. As a naturally evolving material, it changes over time through contact with air, moisture and the skin. Depending on the skin’s acidity, it may gradually develop a patina, darken slightly or leave a temporary mark on the skin.

Each person reacts differently to metals. These natural changes do not affect the quality or durability of the jewellery.
TiKa* de La Botte creations are nickel-free.

Caring for your pieces

To preserve the appearance of your jewellery over time, avoid repeated contact with seawater or chlorinated water, perfumes and cosmetics, household cleaning products, chemicals or abrasive substances, as well as prolonged exposure to humidity.

It is best to remove your jewellery before swimming, showering, exercising or sleeping.

Store it away from air, humidity and light, ideally in its pouch or in a closed jewellery box.

Patinas and Natural Evolution

Patinas are sensitive finishes. Depending on friction and the way the jewellery is worn, certain areas may gradually become lighter, allowing the underlying metal to reappear.

This evolution is natural. It allows time and use to become part of the piece, while restoration may remain possible when necessary

Unique Pieces

Every creation is shaped and finished by hand.

Slight differences in shape, texture, patina or colour may therefore

appear between pieces of the same design.

These variations are an integral part of TiKa* de La Botte’s craftsmanship and make every piece unique.

A Living Materials

Silver and brass may gradually lose some of their shine or develop a light layer of oxidation. This transformation is part of the natural life of the metal.

Some pieces are intentionally patinated, oxidised or textured. These finishes are applied by hand and may evolve over time, making each piece even more distinctive.

Variations in colour, texture or surface are not imperfections. They reflect the handmade process and the unique character of each creation.

Cleaning

For unpatinated silver or brass pieces, use a soft polishing cloth specifically designed for precious metals.

When more thorough cleaning is required, gently wash the piece with lukewarm water and mild soap, then dry it immediately and carefully.

Do not use toothpaste, abrasive powders, acidic products or hard brushes. These methods may scratch the metal or alter the handmade textures, patinas and finishes.

Patinated, oxidised or gold-finished pieces, as well as jewellery containing resin, require particular care. Avoid using metal-polishing products, as these may alter the surface.

Repairs & Maintenance

A TiKa* de La Botte piece may be cleaned, adjusted or restored depending on its material, finish and condition.

When in doubt, avoid treating the piece yourself.
